Title

Kansas - The Oskaloosa Independent

Description

The Oskaloosa Independent was founded as the independent, in 1860 by the editor John W. Roberts. According to the Kansas Genealogy website, “Mr. Roberts was strongly abolitionist, and seeing an opportunity for being of greater influence to that movement he sent his printing press and other materials out to Oskaloosa, Kansas, in 1860 (...)”. Thus, The Independent was a “republican organ” and circulated in other states as well. According to the website mondotimes, The Oskaloosa Independent covers local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events. It is published every week, on Thursdays.
