Title

Montana - The Madisonian

Description

The Madisonian is located in the heart of Ennis, Montana and has printed weekly since 1873. The paper covers all of Madison County, Montana and is considered to be a “hyper-local paper,” according to its editor, Abigail Dennis, which means that the paper mainly focuses around happenings in the local community. Although it is considered a small-town paper, Dennis said it has not missed a week of publishing in 142 years. According to records from the Library of Congress’s U.S. Newspaper Directory, The Madisonian regularly reported on mining activity within the surrounding counties between 1895 to 1920 as the western United States became more populated with citizens looking for work. The current paper offers three sections to its audience: news & features, sports & entertainment and opinion. Though the subject matter of reporting has changed in The Madisonian since the late 17th century, the publication’s iconic logo has remained the same.
