The Hannibal-Courier Post is located in Hannibal, Missouri and has printed daily since 1853. Records from the Library of Congress show that the Post originated from several weekly newspapers founded in and around Hannibal, including the Hannibal Journal, the Hannibal Gazette and the Hannibal Messenger -- all which have since stopped print. The Journal ceased printing in 1853. The current Post publishes daily, both in print and online and consists of six different sections: news, sports, entertainment, life, opinion and obituaries. Their website also offers an area for users to search for cars and homes on the market as well as post general classified advertisements. The paper is owned by Gatehouse Media Publications, a New York-based company that gained ownership in 2007. According to their website, the company has ownership of 404 community publications: 78 daily papers, 235 weekly papers and over 350 websites -- all across the span of 27 different states in the nation.
