Title

North Carolina - Star-News

Description

Star-News was originally founded in 1867 as The Morning Star and has continued publication daily ever since. In its nearly 150-year history, Star-News has operated under multiple names, all of which were versions of its original name, as Library of Congress records show. The founding father behind the publication, William H. Bernard, was a Confederate major in the civil war and notably served in the first battle, according to records from the New Hanover County Public Library. In addition to his founding of the Star, he also co-founded the Wilmington Dispatch just a year prior.

When the publication first began, it published every day excluding Sunday – but currently, Star-News features an exclusive Sunday edition each week published under the title Sunday Star-News.
