Title
Description
The Delaware Gazette was founded in 1818 as the Delaware Gazette and Religious Informer by Presbyterian Joseph Hughs and Baptist Joseph Drake, according to Ohiohistory.org. The Gazette has had many name changes over the years until its current name was finalized in 1855. Previous names of the publication included The Delaware Patron (1821), The Ohio State Gazette (1830) and The Olentangy Gazette (1834), according to Library of Congress records. In June 2004, a descendant of previous Gazette Owner Abram Thomson sold the paper, breaking the 170-year ownership that held the record for longest single-family owned newspaper in the country, according to an article by the Knight Ridder Tribune. The paper is currently owned by Pittsburgh-based Civitas Media and offers news, sports, opinion, features, entertainment and finance sections.
