Title

South Carolina - The Post and Courier

Description

The Post and Courier, self-proclaimed as the South’s oldest newspaper, traces back to its earliest predecessors known as The Courier, founded in 1803, and The Evening Post, founded in 1894. The two newspapers came closer together in 1926 when it was purchased by The Evening Post Industries Company but maintained separate news staffs until they fully merged in 1991, becoming one single morning edition. In current day, The Post and Courier has reached an average daily circulation of 82,875 issues and 91,132 issues on Sunday.

The Post and Courier has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize for a series on domestic violence in 2015 and another in 1925, when it was still named The News and Courier for a piece named “The Plight of the South.”
